From earlier this month...

I have to admit, I was very psyched to get this gull as he flew over my head on the beach a few weeks ago. I was using my telephoto, and with the first and last shot, I did not run photo/ color enhancement stuff- I did decrease my exposure a hair in ACR, and obviously, I cropped- but that's it other than sizing for web.
The middle one has a defog and sharpen for web.
I was jumping up and down excited. I got a shot of something in motion without screwing it up! Hurray! Okay, so it's in full sun and has a nice big beach under its belly as a reflector, but c'mon, I'm still so pleased. I hope this picture is interesting to someone other than me...
TFL!

I really like the second one. Great composition and awesome job capturing him in "flight". These shots are always fun.....his wingspan is great!

It's really tough to capture birds in flight! I've tried and failed so many times! Great shot!

p.s. As per your comment on my blog:
... you are SO right! I wanted very badly to have an outdoor wedding: to wear a white eyelet peasant dress with empire waste and drop shoulders, long flowing hair with a crown of daisies and... BARE FEET. [Hey, I've always been a hippy and this was 1975!]
I caved and went with my family's *suggestion* of a conservative church wedding.
I still regret the wedding dress decision, but I certainly don't regret getting married and being happily married for almost 30 years!!!

Wow, great capture! I've never been able to get a bird in flight. That's really cool. And that's some amazing sooc color.

ANYTIME you get something in motion, feel free to jump up and down;) I think my favorite is the one in the middle...something about the compostion probably, but...what a great crop...you don't loose much detail at all! What a great lens (and photographer of course.)

Wonderful, beautiful pictures!! I think the second one is my favorite composition, but they are all just fabulous. Birds (or anything that fast)are tough! Great job...

I like these. The middle one is my favorite too because of the crop. It leaves him room to fly into. Great capture!

I think they are great sights. I shot the "same" bird a few months ago when we were at the beach. I was afraid he'd "shoot" my camera! lol!!!!

I think very cool.
I also shot things overhead last night and I only wish I could do and understand half the things you talk about.
