After. In layers, I lightened, added a screen light layer at a low opacity, and ran defog at 20, 60, 3.
I wish I could edit my Raw file, the exposure is better than the jpeg version. Waiting for DH to help me download the plugin for PS to recognize my new camera. Oh, well.
TFL, and as always, thank you for all the feedback!

Beautiful edit, I really love the feel of this photo.
The second image is just GORGEOUS!! It's making me want some snow to photograph!
what a beautiful shot! i love how you pp'd it.
Both are wonderful but I prefer the first.
Beautiful PSing, I think you made the snow pop and the trees stand out so much more than the original.
Looks like my area this morning! Great job brightening it up. I wonder what it would look like without the fire hydrant?
Wow--that really brightened it up. Now you notice the fire hydrant. Nice work!
Beautiful, I love how you can just make out the red in the hydrant. Good job!
Im so jealous, wish we would get snow like this but Ca never gets cold enough :). I like how you made it look so much better.
very nice edit and compostion like the bit of red in all that white snow!
that's a great shot..it looks really pretty.

Sara, that is lovely! I like how you lightened it, but still maintained the details and also the gray-coolness of the original!
Really pretty scene and I love the depth (not sure if that's the right word) in the edited picture. You can really see the detail of the branches and snow on the trees.
I love great snow pictures, this is one of my favorites now!
Lovely picture. I love when the snow sticks to the trees like that. Nice edit, it really brightened it up.
Very pretty! It looks very quiet and serene....
such a beautiful peaceful image
Very beautiful Sweetie! I love the PP version...you did such a wonderful job. Your snow still looks all white...our is kind of brownish now. I am jealous.
I like the way you brightened this up. I didn't even notice the fire hydrant in the before photo.
what a cool shot (pun intended) - looks so cold there
