Day 4

When K gets home from school- after I've picked up S, and picked K up from the after school program, it's homework time.

Now, I'm an incredibly patient person.

I work with children- difficult children are my area of specialty- all day long.

But homework time? It's my albatross.

K is a wonderful, intelligent child who is naturally curious and imaginative.

But school is a struggle for her. And I totally get that it is difficult for her.

It doesn't stop homework from being a frustrating experience. I feel badly for her, and wish that it could be easier. Not easy, but easier.

I also wish I could sip some wine while she works (just kidding, really).

Egazooks, bless her teachers!

So, hats off to teachers, hats off to my kid who struggles to learn, and hats off to Moms who spend 30-45 minutes at night pulling their kids through homework (Ishudder to think- it's only first grade!)

What a creative take on the theme. Homework is so tough, when I was teaching I had kids that would struggle like that and it was so hard. Kudos to you for being so supportive and understanding of her struggles, that is not an easy task but as I am sure you know, so worth your time.

Homework was tough for me too...I got distracted way too often. You should have seen my dad try and teach me algebra...oh man was that work. I digress...

Anyway, cute shot!

Cool pic. I had one that had such a hard time learning. Hang on she will find her own way as I am sure you know.

Oh wow, you made me step back and think.

I can totally relate to the homeword issues. It's so frustrating to me, because I don't know how to explain it any other way and I have to try and udnerestand that they DON'T get it. Not fun.

Sara what a beautiful way to do the hats off theme this week. I feel for you, hopefully K will decide she doesn't mind homework so much soon and it won't be such a struggle for the two of you. In the meantime I can feel the love for her in your written words...and that is so important!

I have to jump in and say thanks for all the kindness you all are posting here. I really appreciate the compliments and encouragement. Michelle, I'll pour for you gladly, girl!
thanks for listening to a bit of my heart for a night. I appreciate it.

Sara, I feel your pain. I work with kids all day as well, as I am a teacher. Yet, when I come home and have to do homework with my daughter, it is awful! She HATES working with me, always has. Yet my son can't get enough. He is like a sponge, absorbing everything.

I hope it gets easier for you. I watch my curious and imaginative daughter struggle as well, and it is hard to watch.

Love your creative take on the theme.

I love your take on theme. My mother in law is a teacher and it made me want to call her and tell her she is awesome.

Yes, hats off to them all. I have been where you are and I feel your pain! Your time invested really does pay off in the future, so hang in there and continue with this very important job! When you get to be my age you can sip some wine and be proud of your children. Great take on the theme!

Hats of to YOU for helping her work through her homework! While I was teaching I saw far too many kids whose parents never helped them once with their homework.... I hope that things will get easier for K. Nice take on the theme!

Love the way this shot is set up. Homework struggles do stink...I know I'd be a failure as a homeschooler.

This is wonderful- what an inspired post! Homework time is a struggle at my house too, with my middle son. He is smart, but still it's a fight every evening. I SO respect his teachers for getting him to do his work during school!

Oh, and I also wanted to say THANK YOU for your compliments on my blog! Your "Tara-ish" compliment really made my day! I want to be like her when I "grow up"! :c)
